Or rather, Zenitsu whined that he isn't going to train especially in a hazardous weather, so the two of them are cooped up in the living room. They're preoccupied by their own things, Tanjiro listened to Ukogi's complaints for awhile after he got bored reading the book he borrowed. The sparrow puttered away after finishing his most recent venting about a yellow cougar, passing by Tanjiro's communicator.
Curiosity got the best of him, he starts to fiddle with it and eventually he opens the texting application. Apparently he can send letters and messages with this machine, but he hasn't gotten around using it. He starts texting Zenitsu. ]

[ !! Birds! He sent birds! He hopes Zenitsu sees that. He looks up from his phone and grins at his friend. ]

He's gotten a chance to learn a little bit of how to use the device from Cyan during one of his slacking off at Petals & Pages, so he's already surfing around on it idly, while minimally listening to Tanjiro and Chuntaro talk to each other. What the heck you two, stop talking shit about him ok...
Anyways, Zenitsu's making sure his device won't scare the wits out of him if it ever goes off. So when Tanjiro sends a text, a tiny chime rings out from the device, and Zenitsu taps on the notification to take a look at it.
...Birds... He gives a small laugh at that. ]

[ Like an excited kid he is, he quickly checks his own phone and laughs along his friend. ]

[The communicator is insane! He knows he can send and receive messages but they appear in the blink of an eye, it's like magic to his eyes. He sends Zenitsu back more food emojis. ]

[ This is a little silly, Zenitsu definitely knows this communication method should probably be used for something more important like actual notices or something, but with how instant it goes through to the other person, it's hard not to play around with it.
He keeps looking through the icons some more and he recognizes something he's learned very recently. ]
